Can I connect a VGA cable to an RCA audio splitter?

What i'm wanting to do is this: my monitor has built surrounded by speakers and it has a green lead going from the monitor to the pc. i want to connect the vga cable from my xbox 360 to my workstation but then i own no audio. with the red and white wires i own from the vga cable plug them into the audio splitter then plug the green flex from my monitor into the audio y splitter. will this work?

Answers:    Your speakers on your monitor probably enjoy a 3.5mm (1/8") stereo jack, not RCA plugs. You'll need a 1/8" stereo to RCA adapter close to this http://www.radioshack.com/sm-6-ft-gold-s...
You might have to hold Female to Female RCA connectors or Female to Female 1/8" stereo barrel jack to transform genders as needed.
