Can I Use a Macbook Pro 17" within a European Outlet w 220V?

I've been using a Macbook Pro 17" near an adapter in a European outlet that give off 220V and someone told me I be frying my battery. They told me I needed an adapter to convert the 220V to 120V. Is this true? I am using the 85W Magsafe Power Adapter.

Answers:    Most laptop power supplies are unversal 110-250V. Look at the writing on the side of it - does it read out something like 110-250? If so, you are fine. You would enjoy fried the power supply by now - that take about two minutes on the wrong voltage.
Unless you bought the mac within Europe, you should buy an outlet adapter. I'm surprised nothing impossible has happen yet. To be risk-free you should consider getting an adapter. they are not to expensive, about 20-30 dollars.
