Capacitor sound out?
Is a .01uF the same as a 0.01 uF? If its impossible to tell apart why is the 1st digit added? Its confusing because when I look up a 103K
capacitor it shows as a .01 & 0.01uf. I'm old, my math skills are incredibly rusty. Thanks!
Answers: Well, I'm no electrician but I do know that 0.01 has to be one and the same as .01 without a doubt
Yes they are alike. 103k is a quick mark for condensing the information on small parts. The "uf" stands for micro farad. To start with the math, the four decimal points below 1 are milli, micro, nano, & pico. 0.01uf = 10 nanofarads (10nf) also = 10,000 pico farads, (10,000pf). In your assortment I am certian you will find a capacitor obvious "102" this value is 0.001 uf. As in good health the marking "104" is 0.1uf. There is some wise involved with this form of module marking, but I am shure it escapes us adjectives. Happy sparks, Doug.
