Answers: The service is call tethering. What happens is the device uses its facts stream that usually delivers communication and such to the device as a way to stream notes to the laptop. A usb a to mini b is required.
The downside is, especially when the bb is used as a phone, the data stream blocks the phone and any other email getting to the blackberry. It is also a drain on the laptop's power (not vile, but definitely something to consider). Lastly, because it does so abundant things, typically the aircard speeds (pcmcia cards) are slightly faster than the blackberry tethering.
If they're doing it, go near verizon or sprint. They use CDMA which is significantly faster than GSM based services
Yes it can be done. I don't know exactly the details though because I know these requires the manufacturer's compact disc. Also, all 3G phones can be connected to the internet using the install disk that comes beside the phone. What I did was two of a kind up (via bluetooth) my laptop and my 3g mobile phone and I was competent to get on to the network.
go to allblackberry.com and they enjoy a link call "no wifi, no hot spot". i think thats where on earth i got my insturctions to do this. you can also basically do a search on the trellis. its not that hard really. it took me going on for 30 min or less to do the set up.
