Blackberry 8830 -- instant messaging?

i'm considering getting a blackberry 8830. what i ask first is: can somebody explain blackberry messaging (BBM) to me? is it essentially like instant messaging between to blackberry owners?

secondly: is in attendance any way to regular AIM instant message on a blackberry, close to what is possible on a sidekick?

any help please! adjectives of these terms and doesn`t matter what can get confusing...


Answers:    You hit the BlackBerry Messenger on the go before. It allows for instant messaging-type communication between BlackBerry devices only. You must own a BlackBerry data plan contained by order for it to work.

For other instant messaging protocols I recommend a program call JiveTalk. It allows for instant messaging for AIM, Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo!, Google Talk and MySpace. It costs $20 for a single-device license, and $30 for a user-license (where you can switch devices and still use the program).
