PSP slim wi-fi internet connections?

I have a wireless internect nouns at my house, and I really want the PSP there is one piece holding me back, I hear that you need a Wi-Fi internet nouns for your PSP to go online, Is this true, I am getting the PSP slim if I dont have need of Wi-Fi, thanks
