I detest blackberrys. That scrolling gearstick is not very lefty-friendly for starters.
In my view, go for the BlackBerry 8800. I enjoy an 8800, along with several other BB models, and can with the sole purpose provide you with positive feedback.
Jared_e42 may be thinking roughly speaking earlier BB models that used the thumbwheel mounted on the right side of the device for menu navigation– absolutely difficult for a lefty to use without practice. The most recent generation of BB’s (8100 series, 8800 series, 8300 series etc) adjectives now use a centrally mounted trackball (similar to what you find on the SideKick) so lefties and righties are immediately on the same playing grazing land.
The SideKick is too bulky for my personal taste and I hold found the BB operating system to be perhaps the most stable you will find on any handheld device. You may also hear society talk roughly speaking the lack of BB 3rd knees-up applications. While this may have be true at one point in olden times, it is certainly not the skin now. There are a plethora of apps set and available for download – everything from games to push weather and movie times to productivity suites.
Obviously the choice is yours, but be sure to look the specs of both devices over carefully…plus read the reviews. I am confident that you will find that the BB comes out on top almost every time!
On a related note – if you be to instead look at the BlackBerry Curve (8300 series) you will find that you get everything that attracted you to the 8800, plus a 2.0 MP camera and a smaller form factor. The Curve is my current babe-in-arms, I could not be happier with it!
