Can I determine a cell phone user's net provider if I know the cell phone number?

I use an iPhone, and one cannot simply send a picture message to another picture-capable cell phone by using the mobile phone number (e.g, Treo phones). Instead, I have to in reality send an email, but the email address syntax is different for respectively carrier.

If I don't know someone's holder, but I do know the number, is my only leeway to call the creature and ask? I know this seems extremely simple (duh -- beckon the person), but if I'm doing it as a surprise, I'd like to know if I can find out this information using the cell phone number.

My hunch is no -- but I figure it's worth a try.

Answers:    My hunch is No also, because now some providers are allowing ancestors to keep their same number if they switch over. Maybe phone call the friend and say something similar to " this dang ______ (your provider) keeps dropping calls" (or something resembling that) "Who do you have and do you own this problem?"
good luck... cool belief!
well, I'm guessing your from San Diego, by your identify.

but anyways I'm not sure if it's the same over here contained by NZ, but over here we only enjoy a small number of cellphone networks and so you can work out what web someone is on just by looking at the first 3 digits of their number

for example:
if the first three digits are 027 over here you know they are on the vodafone see.

so as long as you know which business the first 3 digits associate with , you can know.

i hope this is what you are looking for and that this does associate near where you live! ( - ;
why dont you in recent times send a mms?
