I am not knowledge the ActiveSync contained by Windows Mobile for my wife's T-Mobile Dash.?

I got my wife tgthe bustle but I am puzzled about the Active Sync. Shouldn't anything I incorporate in MS Outlook be synced to the phone and anything I do contained by the phone sync to Outlook? As a test, I added a contact within Outlook. When we did a sync it DID NOT add it to the phone. When I delete a contact in the phone, it delete it in Outlook. It appears the phone is what controls the sync fairly than it going both ways. Also, the sync duplicated entries. My wife has me within her phone as a SIM contact and in Outlook as economically. Instead of merging the two, she now have me in her phone as both a SIM and Outlook contact. If she delete one of those in the phone, won't the subsequent sync just put it wager on in at hand and created another duplicate entry? Thanks for any help.

Answers:    Hello;

ActiveSync should make available you the option of have the phone win or Outlook win upon synchronization. This is available through the options menu.

As to the SIM vs. Outlook duplicate entry - it is really not a duplicate. The SIM card contained by your device will (depending on the SIM) give you some amount of storage dimensions for holding contact information (32K for older SIMs and 64K on newer SIMs). This be a great feature as you merely had to collect your contacts to the SIM. If you changed phones, all of your contact info would be present as long as your SIM be dropped into your new device.

With ActiveSync and the prevalence of Smartphones, most population do not tend to rely on the SIM for storing contact information any more.

It looks like you will requirement to play with your ActiveSync settings a bit to ensure your information is capture as you want it to be captured. For a start, shift to www.microsoft.com and get the most modern version of ActiveSync to ensure that you hold all of the most recent supported features. If you are using XP or earlier use ActiveSync – if you hold Vista, I believe your sync’s are managed via the Windows Mobile Device Center.

I hope this help!
You need to check the Sync settings. There are several modes for it. You want to change the mode from "Sync - Remote Controls Sync" to something else - in attendance is also "Sync - Computer Controls Sync", "Sync - Merge" and "Sync - Do Nothing". What you perhaps want is Merge which wont delete anything, but will fairly always merge what is on the phone next to what is on the computer. There is also a setting to always ask nearly the individual items to sync or to do them automatically.
