Is the Palm TX REALLY worth the 300 $$$? I show close to for what you seize out of it and how long it will concluding ect?

If you don't have use for WiFi after why don't you continue to use your Zire 71 which is totally okay for a student.
You may want to consider Treo's or even iPhone or iTouch though you can't really put information into the iPhone or iTouch like you can beside the Palms.
And YES, I think I get my money's worth out of my TX. Just not having to buy an iPod or any other mp3 player have made it worth it.

The big updates going from z71 to T|X are:
1) wifi
2) BT
3) hi-res+ screen
4) updated OS
5) better included apps
1- if u hold no WL setup at home, or don't go to hotspots recurrently, this won't get used normally
2- mostly for streaming BT cellphone data onto your T|X
3- nicer for stuff similar to media (photos, ebooks, video, documents, citation material) tho not all apps support the extra eyeshade real estate, and nicer for some games (less games suppport it)
4- I'm kinda meh roughly this, but some find the updates to be nice
5- there may be freeware alts to these, so again meh.
Event ho I own a T|X, my prevalent reason for getting be jsu t for a cheap handheld w/wifi. I didn't pay $300. GOt it on Ebay for $150, since I'm still sticking next to my T|T3 as my primary PDA b/c that's the best Palm PDA IMO, probably ever.
If u have a excitement for Palm PDAs, T|X may be right up your alley. Better suited for an advanced user. The prime downgrade would be no digicam, but having used a z71 bef my T|T3, it be nice, but not a good digicam even for a PDA. I well-read how to hold the z71 VERY steady for some shots, while getting blur for the rest. This day surrounded by age, u might as well use your cameraphone instead for pics, since im sure u'll other have it on u and digicam on phones own gotten much gbetter since 2004. Else, compact/ultra compact standalone digicams aren't that expensive nor big to fit in pockets.
Also, the NVFS (non volitile flash system) mem scheme u won't lost data if your Palm loses adjectives its power, but it tends to bring somewhat slower performance.... at lowest some ppl say it's manifest that it's sometimes an issue while others say it's not a big settlement. Also, some apps that suport os5 may not work with the unsullied type of RAM. However, that was years ago. I'm sure plentiful devs have scrambled to resolve NVFS compatibility issues
And don't scoff TOO much at the $300 price stub. U may be able to find it strange for as low as $250 (dunno where tho), and ppl salaried the $400 MSRP for the T|T3 when it first came out. Keep it in good health charged and cared for and u should be capable of get 2 to 4+ years of use, depending on usage. LIkely longer
