I have tried to relocate the batteries, and hit that reset on the vertebrae. It is by no means contemporary, however I have sentimental/financial reason not to replace it. Any suggestions would be welcome.
Answers: Make sure the contacts within the battery compartment is verbs and corrossion free.
If so, leave latest batteries within the battery compartment for a while, after press reset and see if you get the Palm warmth / boot up screen.
