My Ti-83 Plus Graphing Calc. say "Garbage Collecting" on the eyeshade. It won't be in motion away, what should I do?
Answers: i found this doing a "google"....
What is garbage collecting? Do I have need of to worry roughly speaking it wearing out my flash memory?
Garbage collecting refers to reorganizing the flash memory. Each time a new report is placed in flash memory, it is stored after the cessation of the last report. If a file is removed from flash, it is manifest as deleted, but the space it populated will not be reused immediately. Unlike RAM, which is moved around to enjoy no "gaps" in used space whenever a database is deleted or resized, the flash memory will solely be rearranged once it is adjectives full. When this happens, the calculator will ask if you want to junk collect the memory. Generally you should always choose "Yes" as otherwise the memory access will go wrong. Unfortunately this process can take a while.
If running assembly programs from a shell, you may call for to do this often; contained by order to accumulate any changes to the facts in the program, the shell will usually delete the program and copy the (possibly modified) program back to flash memory after you exit. If you run the program various times, this will "use" all the space within the flash memory, making garbage collection essential. Some people come across to worry that this will wear out the flash memory, since it requires erasing blocks of it so that they can be written to again, and the memory is one and only designed to be erasable a limited number of times. However, this probably not a faithful concern, as the flash memory can be erased at least 100,000 times.
