Answers: There are NAS devices beside media servers (ex. Media Vault from HP). If the NAS have no mediaserver you do need a PC surrounded by between.
Mount the NAS as a drive on your PC
Use WMP11 or any other 3-part media server as your medium server.
Use an xbox or a digital media addressee (Linksys, netgear, etc.) to stream content to your TV over your home network.
HP have a Mediasmart TV that has built-in medium receiver functionality.
