How does the tivo connect to computer?
Answers: well, the strict way is using the Tivo Desktop which is available at their website as a free download. Install it on you notebook and it will pull recordings sour you Tivo either through a web connection or direct nouns. Network meaning you've added your Tivo to your home grating, or direct connect where you run an ethernet or usb from the Tivo to your computer. Now, mine is on my home lattice. and I have wireless going to my laptop, so transferring an 1hr long show take, I don't know 25-30 minutes or whatever, I don't really settle attention I always do that when I'm doing other stuff.
Currently, I've have some trouble with the replay of the recordings on my notebook. Tivo will store them in its own locked format within a Tivo's recordings folder, but through Tivo Desktop it will play them with Windows Media Player. Lately, I guess the codec for that or something have gone missing on my computer and i cannot get them to play, really frustrating and I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do around it...
Transfer speed depends on your connection. If you are on wifi lattice it will take longer than if you are wired within. Direct connect would seem to be the fastest, but I've never tried that. However, Tivo Desktop will work contained by the background, so if you are moving profusely of stuff, i'd do it at night when you are asleep or something and next there's no worries.
