Hello, I hold just purchased the Sony 970. It arrived yesterday and its great. I own, however, just posted a put somebody through the mill myself need help out to set up the "guide" this is a function that puts all the programmes on the peak for you to record from/watch. up to 500 hours on the disc.
Regarding other functions it can copy on/play literally ANY format of disc you can ask for and I am extremely pleased with it. I record a film from my PC just this minute and my old recorder would not pla y it - the Sony did - no problem. I looked at the Panasonic too, but the Sony have Free view included so i.e. the way I go. I got it through the COOP on queue - good price too.
Overall - its a incredibly sophisticated machine but once I own the set up mastered - it will be first class.
I have have a Panasonic for 9 months. I'm away from homeso can't give you the exact model number but it starts DMR. Mine single has 120gb disc but nearby is o better model with larger disc.
Otherwise it have all you want and I have found it to be fantastic. Hardly ever enjoy to change titles as it take them from tv guide.
It has full editing services so you can get rid of advert etc and you can do your own chapters and after finalise to recordable dvd.
I have record approx. 400 films and other programmes with no problems at adjectives. I've also used it as a normal recorder.
It will also play adjectives region dvd's.
All it lacks is a second freeview decoder and the facility to record 2 programmes at once .
It be about lb350 but best money I ever spent.
