Is TiVo better than Time Warner Cables DVR? What are the pros and cons?

I am trying to decide if I should draw from rid of my DVR option through Time Warner Cable and purchase a TiVo. Time Warner Cable DVR have many problems and I am wondering if TiVo is better.
