Sony HD Recorder and Sony Bravia lcd both with hdmi connects. Is the scart connects in a minute necessary to connection up? or just use scarts to connect to my sky box (not HD).
Answers: No, you can freshly use the HDMI sockets to connect the TV & DVD recorder. It's a much higher level connection, as it transmits the signal digitally, to some extent than converting to analogue, which is how a scart socket works.
For HD signal you will need a Sky HD box as all right, you can play HD with the sony Rec but your Sat signal will still be standard digital sorry.
