What does it close-fisted when a DVD recorder have DivX playback?

I have a dvd recorder and it say on the box that it has DivX playback. How does it play DivX video? Do you need to knit it to the internet or anything like that? I own only watch DivX videos through Stage6.

Answers:    Divx is merely a type of video format. If you burn a divx video to a CD/DVD then you can see it on the DVD player. That's all it resources.

The benefit of divx is that you can fit more videos on smaller quantity space because it is a compressed format (similar to MP3 for music)
That means it will play video you download on stage6
