The USB port on the TiVo is not an Ethernet port. Look on the pay for of your TiVo for the Ethernet port.

To connect to the Ethernet port you need an Ethernet Cable to connect from your router to your TiVo. You can buy a cable anywhere computer parts are sold. Best Buy, Circuit City etc.
After you go and get everything hooked up unplug your modem and your router. Turn off your computer. Turn on TiVo and agree to it boot up. This may take several minutes.
Once TiVo have booted up plug in your modem, immediately your router and finally your computer.
Everything should be working, your computer should access the Internet and so should your TiVo.
