Answers: Life time subscription is specific to the box and can not be transferred to other box.
Now for new boxes, Tivo does not make available life time subscription, but at present from November 8, 2007 until February 13, 2008 they own a deal that "Qualified customers can purchase product lifetime service when they buy a spanking new TiVo DVR." for $399.00 in adjunct to the new Tivo box.
Tivo HD-DVR is $299.99 and Tivo HD-DVR Series3 is $599.99, but is available on Amazon for $599.98 beside $200.00 mail-in-rebate.
Go to Tivo.com website and sign in to receive multi-service discount and check agreement details.
If you go next to Series3 than best price is $400/- for box after rebate and $400/- for life time subscription and Cable TV packet change save already have HD channel and getting 2 Cable cards.
