i was facing same problem more than a year ago. i patiently tried trial version of different products, wasted tons of hours and discs, until i arranged to forget the whole entity and start enjoying video instead of converting... also all current video compression is lossy (mpeg, mpeg2, divx, xvid, etc.). converting from one compressed format to another further degrade quality and it is time consuming.
result: i simply purchased unsullied DVD player that can also handle DivX and I never looked put a bet on. today you can get one for as little as $35-45 which is just about same as mentioned or similar software products. and now I can burn several DivX files on one DVD disc and burning take only few minutes for several files which is smaller amount time than converting just one single database. smaller file size is better if one doesn't want to burn discs since harddrive space is so affordable. lately a thought...
