What's the usb input for on a digital cable box?

I have a Motorola DCH3416 Digital Cable Box near DVR from Comcast. It has one USB input on the front and two on the final.

What is this used for?
Can I transfer DVR recordings to an external not easy drive?
Can I use it to watch video from a USB device?

Thanks.

Answers:    If you call Comcast, they can distribute out a technician that can set up an external hard drive for space.

Also, on Linux(Ubuntu), you might be capable of get MythTV to transcript your programs directly to your computer. Comcast doesn't support this and Motorola doesn't give the drivers, but associates have written drivers.
