Does directv provide hdmi cable for hd receiver?
Answers: I just upgraded to an HD beneficiary, and yes they provided me with one HDMI cable (along near an S-video, component, and rca cables). Unfortunately I already had adjectives the cables from my later box still wired so I just threws theirs into storage, so I can't atest to its element.
As for the pros/cons, the HD quality is as fitting as you could hope for, and the number of channels you take is amazing, but the biggest problem I have is that unless you live contained by New York City or one other city (San Diego I think), you can't get HD key networks such as Fox, CBS, ABC, ect (though you get adjectives the main cable networks within HD like TNT, TBS, USA, FX). I find about every other trench in HD though, from HD Discovery Channel to HD ESPN.
Edit: The modern dish you have to go and get for the HD setup is a good bit bigger than the regular one. Luckly the side of our house could support its counterbalance, but a friend of mine said it was so substantial he had to own it put in his patio.
