Signal Loss A lot Connecting Two Pieces of Coaxial?

I realize that the the length of the line doesn't affect signal loss but will connecting two coaxial cable add to a significant loss?
I want to connect it to my DVR for a high def picture.
The Firedog guy cut the cable too short and replacing the
cable beside a longer one is not an option since the lead goes through my ceiling up to my roof somewhere.

Thanks,
Howie M.

Answers:    Length of cable DOES affect signal loss, but merely if you're talking more or less a good deal of extra cable (50ft). Adding 3-6ft shouldn't label any difference. Make sure you use a good cable next to good crimped on ends ( not the crappy do-it-with-no-tools-screw-ons) and you should be fine. You'll have need of a length of new cable and a coaxial cable coupler also.
Bottom stripe, not much loss through good working couplers.
Shouldn't take home much difference but make sure you use proper co-ax connectors & joining association, or get an amplifier beside 2 outputs from somewhere like Argos & connect up that mode.
