DVR problem - Says that one of my tuners is not hooked up?

Is there anyway to check the signal coming within? I have switched the wires and I still can't amount out whether one of the coax cables from the dish is out of action or if an input to the DVR is not working.

Unplug one of the coax cable. If you still get one tuner to work you know the other tuner is unpromising.
