Why does my Hauppauge Win TV program play choppy as challenging a smooth-running picture?

We play videos/DVDs through our WinTV program on our computer (Windows 98). We have be able to troubleshoot the reality that it is NOT the VCR or DVD player causing the problem. When a movie or DVD is playing, it plays almost similar to a bunch of fast-moving little snapshots rather than a conventional movie. It didn't used to do this, but started acting up about a couple of weeks ago. What can we do? We hold lost our Win TV start-up disk so re-intalling it is not an option. Thanks!


Answers:    It seem to me that your computer either is too slow or it's missing a codec that can do hardware acceleration within your machine.

Usually Cyberlink's codec is competent to utilize hardware to do acceleration. It's used by PowerDVD player but it isn't free. If you do have PowerDVD, try playing your video through it. If not, try downloading a trial journal from here:

If problem is gone, then what you're missing is a codec that can do hardware acceleration. You don't specify what graphics adapter your PC hold, but there might be a small prospect that it came beside it's own player that does that. You can try that too.
