Directv refuse Tivo service?

Ok so about 2 years ago we get a directv and tivo combo thing. We be very at ease with are service until our tivo took a crap. At the time we weren't smart something like this type of thing and simply called directv roughly speaking it. they offered to send out a replacement not describing us it was a dvr+. We assumed it would be another tivo or something basically as good. We be greatly disappointed with our dvr that we get. It was not user friendly at adjectives. It didn't have the option tivo did. So we called them and jump up. They agreed that since they don't sell or afford tivos out anymore that if we found one a produced the recipes that they would reimburse us on our bill. We found one at one of the behind the times walmarts for about 100 bucks. Everything be going get for a several months when adjectives of a sudden we lost the connection for our tivo to form it's local calls.

Can anyone share me what we are missing by our tivo not being competent to make these call and how can you get directv to allow the tivo service. We own call
