Is within a cable I can buy to copy DVDs between a DVD player and a DVD recorder beside copyright on DVD?

I have immediately have a DVD recorder near a lot of complex disk space. I bought the extra space because I want to copy all my daughters kids DVDs (wiggles, play arts school, elmo etc) onto teh hard disk so I can play from nearby and not have them scratched etc. But, it wont do it because of copyright. Someone said I can seize a cable to run from the old DVD player to the brand new DVD recorder that allows copyrighted DVDs to be copied .. no, I am not looking to start a pirate business .. people who want to do that know how to :-)
I also dont really want to enjoy to run a number of programs on the PC to do it. Thank you

Answers:    Sima sold a box that defeated some types of copyright protection. I hold one but haven't ever tried it on DVD to DVD copies. It worked great for transferring video tapes to DVD though.
