i'm pretty sure you can't grasp a HDDVD / VCR player.
VCR = video cassette recorder
the only difference between blu-ray and HD are which studios use which format....
i doubt you'll find a multi-regional HD or blu-ray player...
you can find a HDDVD and BLU-RAY combo... i would look for one of those.
