Verizon DVR service?

I am getting Verizon FiOS TV now, and I want to seize a DVR. Is there a route I could just buy one instead of renting one and also paying a big levy?

Answers:    You will be required to rent a set top box to receive the FiOS cable. The cheapest model that they offer probably does not hold a DVR built in. It probably merely cost a few more dollars a month to upgrade to the box with DVR capability.

Since you are going to be required to rent a box in the first place, it would gross sense just to upgrade. But if you do not want to do that, you can hook a Tivo up to your set top box and it will work a short time ago fine.
