Is it possible to hook up a dvr through an existing cable box and obtain the desired results (i.e. pic contained by pic)?

the provider will not recognize my dvr because it is not registered next to them even though it is the same exact brand. I want to run my box through the dvr so I can record(like you would a vcr) the brand is proven atlanta explorer 8300hd

Answers:    No, you can not plug up a second 8300 HD box to the one provided by the cable provider. Your second DVR will not boot without acceptance the proper authorizations from the cable company. Without this authorization, your second 8300 HD box is a boat anchor. It will not boot and will only display a message that tell you to call the cable company to put into action it. The DVR functions are not available until the box is authorized and recognized by the cable companies chief end computer.
