How do I connect a Replaytv dvr to my tv?
When I use the remote that come with the dvr, I can turn my tv on/off (so here must be some sort of connection) but it won't do anything else.
I've read the manual, but I really can't numeral this out. Does anyone have any proposal or know if I need other cable?
PS. my tv is somewhat old. It's the Sharp model. Please abet!
Answers: You need to connect the DVR to your TV using the AV cable, connect the phone line to the DVR so it can receive the TV calendar, and then you have need of to connect the TV cable to the DVR. You don't need the TV cable connected to your TV at adjectives since you will usually be watching stuff on the Replay.
Once you've done all this, you involve to turn on your TV, and have it use the AV input. This might be call "VIDEO 1", or "AUX" or something like that. (each TV architect calls it something different.) Some TVs own a separate "Video" button, while others put the inputs at the end of the dike listing. You'll hold to check your TV's manual for the exact method.
Once you've done that, afterwards the other buttons on the remote should do something visible to the eyeshade - like hitting wait should pause your program. After that, the DVR's encyclopaedia should help stride you through the rest of the setup. You'll want to reconfigure the DVR so that it knows what channel you receive, so it knows what passageway data to download. Once this is done, you can start unfolding it programs to record.
The DVR's remote can work as a universal remote, controlling your TV's power and volume setting, which is separate from controlling the DVR itself.
You didn't mention if you see anything on the TV, singular that it's turns on. Do you know how to put your TV in Video/Aux mode? That's what it wants to be in if your are connecting near video cables. If you hold the original remote that come with your TV, look for an input or source button to switch to video mode. If you can't go and get the tv in video mode, use a standard coax pullover and set the tv to ch 3 or 4.
