I don't currently have a headset line or the needed adapter, so I purely want to watch and dictation like a VCR on my Tivo2. I be playing around with it and presently it is asking me to connect a phone line. How can I bring it off this eyeshade? I can't watch anything until I can exit this!
- PS - I tried to disconnect the cable...then I unplugged the element...It didn't work. Tivo is too smart!
Answers: The Tivo series 2's and Series 3's REQUIRE a VALID subscription to RECORD or PLAYBACK the saved content. Tivo established to do this when they came out near the Series 2's. The Tivo's WILL work for a SHORT time without the phone rank or network nouns being hooked up, but remember the Tivo NEEDS to phone home comparatively often to obtain the schedule updates for the Television programs.
So what you could do in a minute is subscribe your Tivo service for a month then stop it again. Then you will hold a few days or a week or so that you can view everything again. I know this liberal of sucks though..
