Is it risky to download a movie, when I already own it on DVD and only just don't want to take-home pay for it twice?

See I want a copy on my computer so i can watch it when i transport it with me, but I don't want to fetch around the dvd and perhaps break it. And I don't know how to put a copy of MY dvd onto my computer short actually running it on the dvd player. I want to be capable of just overt it as an avi or mpg file and view it.
What about tv shows? is it unfair to download tv shows, for free, that you've missed when you KNOW that since you already own all the other season on dvd that you're going to buy this season as well?
Does anyone know a site i can be in motion to that will give me the imperative regarding wrong and legal downloading practices surrounded by layman's terms wreak i sure don't speak lawyer.


Answers:    You can copy DVDs to your computer for personal use just. You'll need a accurate DVD ripper program. Search for it on google.
no matter the object you want to copy your DVD, even you "already own it" - you still don't have the "adjectives rights".
don't look far, read on the back of DVD packing: in attendance is a "warning: for Dutch auction or rental for private home use...only. federal statute provides severe civil and criminal penalties for the unauthorized reproduction, distribution or exhibition of copyrighted motion pictures, videotapes or videodiscs..."
you can use your DVD but you are prohibited to make any profit (money) by using that.
