So i got a tentative phillips dvd recorder and hooked it up to my tv and dvr.I was competent to record 2movies from the dvr and after i tryed to record the other 25+ movies sour my dvr and it says "This program is not recordable contained by +VR mode" it says its copy prohibited i know what that way...but why was i competent to record 2 movies that are current and not anyothers. Is there any passageway to get by this error...also whats the point of have a dvd recorded if everything is copy prohibited?
Answers: i am have the very same problem. i hold a phillips dvr3505 and dish network dvr522 connected via S-video cable. up to a couple of weeks ago i be able to transcript from Encore channels,IFC, and movie channel with no problems but immediately i get duplicate message "this program is not recordable in +vr mode" when i try to history either live or save events. this problem only shows up near the "premium" channels and not the plain ones ,yet.
what is going on is a copy protection scheme call VCPS. this scheme embed a digital flag on broadcasts, even analog ones, that disable recording of specific programing. the flags are entrepreneur specific. the major manufacturer like Phillips enjoy been activate. you may still be able to copy protected programing but it will have to be on another brand that have not been activate .
