I own merely finalized a dvd-r record from my cam and I want to know how to download that disk to my computer

I use DVD Xpress.
With DVD Xpress you can transfer your video to your tricky drive and then expurgate it if you desire. DVD Xpress comes with deep video editing software. I got mine at Sam's for $59.95. I saw a newer model at WalMart lately. It was the DVD Xpress2. I can't remember what it cost.
You connect the composite output of your Cam into the DVD Xpress and connect the DVD Xpress to your computer via a USB cable.

It depends on the format of what you record. if you recorded it as a unfinished mpeg, just pop the disk surrounded by and copy the file over. Otherwise, you may involve software to convert the DVD-file to a mpg or other "movie" type file.
