Can I filter my non HD cable box through DVD recorder to attain better talent Picture on my HDTV?

So I have be told I can filter my cable that is not a HD box through a DVD recorder to catch better picture quality on my LCD 1080p TV. Plug my cable box to DVD recorder and DVD recorder to TV. Will this work? Will a HD tuner work merely as good? I know im not going to obtain true HD but looking to improve my picture power.

Answers:    No. If the signal from the source is coming through in standard 480i, it will simply be 480i to the television. It does not upconvert anything bar commercial DVD playback. What you may be able to do is connect your cable directly to the recorder (or use a splitter so you can own both the cable box and the recorder connected). Then scan channels on the recorder to see if you receive anything contained by HD (or if you can pick up any digital channels).
If you have a signal coming surrounded by broadcast in HD going to an SD cable box, it is one down-converted before it reach your television rear legs to an SD analog signal. If you have that HD broadcast coming into a recorder and a HD nouns to the TV from there, you may know how to get HD. Though, I doubt your cable company is broadcasting anything through your existing cable. The cable stays like peas in a pod, but is referred to as "digital coax" once you get digital cable from the company.
For example, I own had digital cable from my cable company for some time immediately - but I did not have an HD small screen, so I could not view the HD channel, but I could hear the audio through my surround sound.
When I bought an HDTV, I connected the cable directly to the wall in need the box and scanned for digital channel. I picked up most of the HD channels. (on the cable box, they be in the 700s, but on the TV, they be like 15.0 or 3.2 or 95.33265, etc - other devices may index them with dashes) The foundation is because of the difference between ATSC and QAM digital tuners (and I won't get into that). But, even minus the HD box from the company, I was unloading most of (if not more than) the HD channels provided through it. If this is matching in your satchel, try the connection I mentioned above and you may lately get lucky resembling I did. Of course, eventually I got the box for the premium channel in HD.
you are conversation about upconverting, and I dont know if it will really benefit you. If you are running HDMI out of the dvd box, I don`t know it will upconvert the signal, but that tends to single look so good. Its not anywhere fundamental HD, its just necessarily helping to fill the eyeshade resolution on your TV better then a standard DVD player which would be stretching a 480p dummy to your TVs resolution. If you already have a cable box, and its through someone close to comcast, you can get an HD box for indistinguishable rental price, then merely pay the few bucks a month for HD and your fitting. Or get an antenna to return with the regular channels surrounded by HD.
