I would highly recommend a TiVo. We prefer TiVo because of simplicity of use and reliability. The rota is always correct because it is updated every daylight. I can program TiVo to record from out of town over the Internet. TiVo learn what you like and recommend shows that you might like. Often times we never would own known they be on. In your case to text every show of a series TiVo shines. You can program an entire season of a given series with a single click and TiVo never forgets. If the time or date for your show change TiVo knows and still files it. You can tell TiVo you close to someone or something and it will locate shows for you. For example if you tell it you similar to John Wayne it will watch for and text anything he is on.
I could go on and on roughly speaking TiVo. There is one downside and that is the monthly (you can wages yearly if you want) allowance.
