Copying VHS to DVD's/CD's?

As I am a dinosaur, I have an extensive collection of VHS movies that I love. What is the most economical (cheapest) agency to get these to DVD/CD? Or would it be cheaper to simply replace them, and if so, why? Thanks!

Answers:    Just draw from a dvd recorder/vcr combo. That way you can convert your vhs movies to dvd as opposing buying 178 dvd's to replace your vhs collection.
Converting VHS to DVD /CD will downgrade the quality of the movie because the VHS player use standard video cord.
If the movie you are discussion about is available surrounded by the market, i'd recommend u to buy instead of converting.
But if it's marriage ceremony tape or childhood kinfolk hang out video, you can bring 'em to any camera and photo shops, some shops to have converting service.
Better be rapid, VHS is extincting!
There are probably services that can do this, but you can buy a DVR for $125 these days. You connect the VHS to the DVR, press "play" on the VHS, and afterwards start to record on the DVR. A couple things: (1) the characteristic, while the same as ingenious VHS, will remain inferior to a DVD. (2) I've found that the process of recording on DVD's is a short time more complicated. You need to buy the proper blank DVD format, etc. Also, the blank DVD's will cost you in the order of 50 cents to $1/each.

You may want to think in the region of your collection, and simply buy the DVD's you'll really end up watching again. Except for recent hits, you'll habitually find old programs on DVD's for $5 to $10 respectively.
There's 2 basic ways to do this depending how oodles VHS tapes you hold.

If you have a moderate amount you'll want to do it the DVD style. I suggest you purchase a decently priced DVD recorder, just because when you record from VHS to DVD the part doesn't get better at adjectives regardless what you do. The new entity is an "up converter", you don't need it, but if you want to spend a few more bucks and have an idea that you'll copy DVDs later on afterwards get it.

The other method, which is more hi-tech, advanced, costs alot more, and NOT recommended for someone who doesn't know alot in the region of computers, so I'll spare you
