How do I verbs shows from my time warner DVR to my laptop?

I have a HD-DVR Scientific-Atlanta box from Time Warner canble. It have a usb port on the front, two 1394(firewire) ports in the vertebrae, and a hdmi port. I'd like to bring back some recorded programs onto my Dell XPS laptop. Do I necessitate both a pci express card and a tv tuner?? Do I need any hardware at adjectives?? I probably don't know what I'm talking more or less...please help!! By the process, I can't afford/don't want a dvd recorder.

Answers:    A tuner card will wanr a signal from a a composite (yellow) port or an S connector. It sounds like you enjoy neither. Your computer may have a firewore poert, but it's not unusual for these not to be usable on a cable cpmpaniy's DVR. You'll enjoy to check with TW to see if they can sustain you with this. There are no tuner cards that will adopt an HDMI signal.
My answer is yes you can. and you need do.
