I love Media Centers. But the only tuners I can find will merely tape HD broadcasts over the atmosphere. I can't get hugely good reception on my over the atmosphere broadcasts so I want a dual tuner capable of cassette HD broadcasts. I thought the only opening to do so was through cable cards. But these newly don't seem to be severely popular. What am I missing?
Answers: You're not missing anything-unfortunately, the only passageway to record non-OTA HD is beside a cablecard computer. There is an external box-homerun-that will let you history from cable directly using a QAM tuner. What you can get depends on what your cable provider have on his cable, in the clear. I haven't see a lot of reports on how capably it works with MCE, but I haven't see any negative ones any. As with cablecard TVs, the cable companies aren't going out of the bearing to push cablecard. One reason is that the present cablecard won't support things approaching pay per scenery, which means they would lose revenue. Cablecard computers aren't unbelievably popular.
