Is nearby a tivo hd element that works near directv?

I am switching from cable to direct tv and I prefer TIVO over direct tvs hd dvr(Thier prices are outrageous). Since they nolonger offer TIVOs at direct tv I be wondering if there is a previous HD TIVO that still works near Direct tv?

Thanks.

Answers:    no, none of the TiVo units that be made for DirecTV are compatable with the different HD feed. This is because DirecTV lately changed the way they broadcast HD content, compressing the signal more than the standard signal. Technically, none of the receiver for DirecTV's service are compatible with this modern feed on their own, but particular ones (h20, hr20, h21 and hr21 models) have a piece that connects to the wager on to aid in the compression/translation issues.

The cause the HR20 and the HR21 models are so expensive at this time is because they are newer technology. Just like adjectives new technology the price will give the impression of being outrageous (though it's not for money-making purposes only - companies own to get a return on the investment for the creation of the exotic technology). Just wait a while (perhaps a year) and eventually the price will come down.

The other choice you have is to purchase a stand alone TiVo part and get a regular HD heir (which, with a qualify new customer present, is a free upgrade).
