I own direct tv can i hook it up to my workstation and carry the shows and movies stale the dvr?

Answers:    It would be easiest if you had Windows XP Media Center or Vista Home Premium. They both allow you to hook up a tv signal to your computer and narrative tv shows. Basically you can use your PC as a DVR.
Technically you could hook up the video output into a capture card or converter box and later record to your PC. That would not be a record transfer but a video takeover from the output of your DVR.
