I'm wondering if there's a way to dictation programs on TV by using a DVR system, without going through Direct TV or Tivo or some rewarded service? In other words, in the hoary days when we'd set the VCR to record the winter sport at 4pm, come home and it's on tape for you. Is within a way to do that in a minute? . . .without tape (or DVD's)?
Answers: The choices in the US are somewhat constrained.
There the Philips DVDR3575H 160G HDD DVD Recorder w/ ATSC tuner (although Walmart seems to be clearing these out) and the tentative Magnavox H2080MW8 that Walmart is stocking.
Both of these have digital tuners but with the sole purpose record surrounded by SD (480).
To record surrounded by HD, you either own to use a payed service or use a PC (either Media Center PC or build you own DVR out of a computer).
yeah you def can buy an aftermarket dvr. my buddy has one from rca, but i am sure that at hand is a bunch of companies that make one.
