Best 250 g HDMI rock-hard drive recorder?

I am trying to decide what tricky drive recorder/DVD player to purchase. I would like to enjoy a good characteristic hard drive recorder to travel with my Panasonic Viera 50 Inch 1080p TV.

It must enjoy 1080P upscaling and 250 gb hard drive. If I could upload a movie from a USB port would be a massive authority!

At the moment I am looking at the following recorders:
- Panasonic DMR-EX87
- Sony RDR HX D970S

I would appreciate peoples opinion on these or recommend any others.
