DVR Box - how to get hold of record shows onto my computer?

I just get a Motorola DVR Box from my Time Warner Cable company in Southern California.

I own some shows that I have record on the hard drive that I would approaching to transfer to my computer. I notice the box has some firewire and USB ports, and be wondering if those can be used to transfer the video...and if so, how?

I DID try plugging in a IEEE (firewire) cable to the stern and connecting it to my laptop, but it didn't show up when I tried to capture anything...although it did agreed the box for a few seconds.

Any support would be great. Details are appreciated.

Answers:    I've been wanting to do this also....I love record Movies from Pay-Per View, and this would be awesome to copy them...Thanks for asking the question!

My guess is that nearby is some software that will "dump" the recorded MPEG's or anything video formats they are to the computer.....I REALLY doubt that Dish DVR boxes are like a "Portable Storage Device" beside drag-and-drop capabilities....
carry directv it actually works
