Answers: No we use the PAL system, they use NTSC... sorry but I'm sure you should be capable of buy one there moderately cheap.

I Doubt it, you know what its approaching, nothing is compatable. Even worse if ur surrounded by a different country

Firstly Australia uses the PAL Colour Broadcast system Pal I indistinguishable as the UK
Australia will be changing over to DVB-T 578i alike system Europe uses

So the answer to your question is YES but you may not gain all the channel.
I live in Adelaide. I brought over several set top boxes. None of them work. When they are switched on, they still show the UK stations and can't be tuned into aussy ones,. Having said that, theres one and only a couple of extra channels, so you aren't missing much.
