Just bought a Magnavox HD tv, but it be on public sale, and lacking remote control?
Answers: Ordinarily, I don't answer TV questions contained by the TiVO & DVR category, but I'll make an exception, surrounded by this case.
If it come from one of those chain stores, resembling Best Buy or Circuit City, you might get some contentment by "going up the ladder" until you get a administrator that can help you. This will cart some gentle but firm persuasion on your segment. The problem is (with both companies) that if they do order a remote and encyclopaedia, it may not be the right one for your set.
Be prepared though. If your receipt say "as is", you're done. And you will have to buy the instruction book and remote yourself. Getting them before Christmas is going to be a unadulterated pain within the pitootie.
Your best option, is to run the thing put money on claiming the salesman misrepresented the product, or something along those lines. Then, simply buy one in an unopened box. Trust me, lacking a remote on modern TVs, they're all but useless.
