DVR to DVD problems!?

I just bought a DVD recorder, I transfered shows I save on my DVR to DVD's. The problem is...... I cannot view the DVDs on any DVD player. So if I want to keep under surveillance them somewhere other than my home, or on a computer the DVDs won't play.... Any suggestions on what I can do? I don't want them to newly be played on this DVDR..

Answers:    Well the #1 thing is you hold to finalize the discs, otherwise they are only playable surrounded by the unit that record them... Next, try using DVD-R instead of DVD+R media (if your recorder supports it) since lots older DVD players see that format but not the newer +R.

I don't think it's a copy-protection item you're dealing with, but that's a possibility... which DVR do you enjoy, and is your DVD recorder integrated into the unit, or are you electrics a Tivo-type DVR to a standalone DVD recorder?
