Answers: You haven't included ample information to answer for certain, but here are some suggestions.
If your DVD burner isn't DVD+R compatible, that might be your first problem. You didn't in reality state if the burning failed, or if the DVD itself didn't work (in a DVD player, one would presume). Not adjectives DVD writers support DVD+R, or DVD-R for that matter, though most modern ones manipulate both formats.
Similarly, some DVD players have trouble near DVD-R, DVD+R, or perhaps both. These, again, are scarce today, but there be some issues with precipitate DVD firmware that meant neither recordable format be 100% compatible with every player.
If your writing works, and your player is compliant, conceivably it's your data? A set-top box wants a DVD authored as "DVD Video" most of the time. You can't simply write MPEG-2 files to a DVD with Nero and expect them to play on adjectives players (they actually will on some), you want a DVD Authoring application, which will create a directory called VIDEO_TS, and crowd that with a bunch of lawfully cryptic looking files, to create the DVD format (including menus, etc).
Did you finalise the disc, if you didn't it will only play rear on your computer, it's not too late though,you can still finalise it. after it should work in any player but, some of the impulsive players only play DVD-R so try one of those but any format should play wager on on your computer.
